ERIC'S TRIP - FOREVER AGAIN (SUB POP 1994)

what a good album to celebrate the beginning of autumn (cause it is like a tight familiar sweater that is both comforting and claustrophobic at the same time).

this record is real good for like a slow bike ride or a stoned soul picnic.

ELECTRIC WIZARD - DOPETHRONE (RISE ABOVE 2000)

LOS MAC'S - KALEIDOSCOPE MEN (??? 1967)

awesome chilean sixties pop. they've got every psychedelic studio trick ever going on and it's amazing (backwards tapes, fuzztone solos, tremolo, 12 string jangle guitar, violins, horns, a sample of bob dylan singing in the middle of the song, cannons, tambourines, vocal harmonies, heavy echo blasts). definitely in a world all of it's own. it almost sounds like a compilation of 11 awesome sixties pop bands that learned how to speak english by listening to rock n roll records.

ZERFAS - ZERFAS (700 WEST 1973)

holy crud! this site here has more information about this album than i could ever say on a blog, but let me say this : this album is one of the greatest psychedelic pop albums ever released even though it was recorded like five years (which is a long time if you think about it) after the huge psych-rock boom of the late sixties. like half of the songs on this album are in a bummer territory, but it's cool cause there's tons of cool sounds and awesome hooks in each tune. when i get to my five favourite songs of all time (and i will get there just give me some time), one of the songs on this album will be there.

OS BRAZOES - OS BRAZOES (??? 1969)

awesome brazilian samba psych. a whole bunch of great summertime jams. some of the tunes are lazy with mellow vibes and others have good dance grooves.

if anyone knows what label this came out on, let me know. i mean i don't care but at the same time i kind of do. whatever. you know how it is.

DWARR - ANIMALS (1986 BRAND X)

i'm not quite sure what the hell happened here, but this is my guess (from listening to the record and staring at the album artwork) : in the early eighties, a south caroliner named dwayne warr got a hold of some good drugs and asked some guy to play a high school's collection of percussion equipment along to some heavy rock guitar riffs he had already recorded. mr. warr's tales of a cold and bitter world are presented to a cold and bitter world and, surprisingly enough, met with complete and utter ambivalence. dwayne attempts to record a follow-up, only to have his mind shit the bed completely. he becomes a born again xtian and destroys his remaining copies of his first two albums (1985's starting over + this album) in a massive bonfire.

maybe i'm thinking about this too much. maybe i oughta just take the advice given on the bottom of the back cover.

SHIZUO - GIVE UP (DHC LIMITED 1998)

very heavy! it's almost like proto-dubstep. lots of crazy filters and retrigger effects. there will probably never be as exciting and confrontational an act on digital hardcore records ever again, even if alec empire gets a clue and stops trying to be the german trent reznor. seriously guy. all we ever needed you to be was the destroyer.
