i was afraid of something like this happening. i am a millimeter away from having a gbv fan blog. it's not my fault that robert pollard writes the best rock n roll songs and the catchiest hooks. i'll get back to posting wacky lsd bullshit really soon i promise. there are six songs here that robert pollard could have written in a day and i'm sure the six songs he wrote the day before that were just as great as these.

GUIDED BY VOICES - TONICS AND TWISTED CHASERS (ROCKATHON 1996)

this album is almost completely written and performed by robert pollard and tobin sprout who later went on to form airport 5. surprisingly, this album sounds exactly like the two airport 5 albums released in the early 00's. the catchy fake-british power of pollard's vocal melodies is nothing short of astounding. how he manages to hide secret catchy parts inside of minute-long halfsongs is a mystery best left for expert detectives like sherlock holmes or maybe his great-grand niece shirley.

GUIDED BY VOICES - ALIEN LANES (1995 MATADOR)

a perfect album from start to finish. even the "weird" songs are catchy as hell. really awesome hooks and the songs transition into each other so well. one of the best rock n roll albums by one of the best rock n roll bands.
